Our neighbor took us to her friend's house to see her miniature horses. Katie was intrigued with their size. She was all grins!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We celebrated Thanksgiving as a family. It was a beautiful 70 degree day. Regan hung the outdoor Christmas lights, Wendy went for a run, and we ate a great dinner. This picture with Katie has our turkey pumpkin and a Mrs Potato head - what's important to note is the potato is a REAL potato grown in our garden! We had two of these massive potatoes. Mrs Potato Head was enough for all of us to enjoy in mashed form!

Happy Fall!

Brandon finished his 8th Grade Football Season. Their team was undefeated and won the TCL Championship! What a great season.

Wendy ran the America the Beautiful Park Half Marathon for the 4th year in a row. Finished in 1hour 44 min, best time yet. Already looking forward next year's race!

Jarrett played Flag Football for I9 Sports. It was his first season. He played all positions and had a lot of fun, despite his team not winning a single game... The final play of the final game was a tackle by Jarrett! Way to go!

Katie the Cheerleader - Go Broncos!

Congratulaltions to Jarrett. He earned his Arrow of Light Award. He has moved up to Boy Scouts and enjoys the new and more advanced activities.

School has started!

Brandon is in 8th grade. He likes his schedules, has great teachers, and is enjoying time with his friends. Football season is ready to start - he's pumped!

Jarrett is in 5th grade. His "best" friend is in his class - he's excited about that. He has a great teacher.

Trey is in 3rd grade. He was disappointed his "best" friend wasn't in his class this year, but is positive he will make more great friends. He also has a great teacher.

Katie has started her schooling career! She is in preschool and LOVES it! She has three super teachers and right now the class is pretty small, though sure to grow as the year progresses. She has already come home singing songs. Her favorite activity is recess...

Pikes Peak Accomplished!

Wendy, Brandon and Jarrett hiked "America's Favorite Mountain" on August 6th. It was a perfect day. The boys did awesome! 12.6 miles in 8 hours (including rest stops and lunch).

Camping in the Backyard!

It was a beautiful night. Thanks to our neighbors who let us use their firepit for hotdog and marshmallow cooking, singing, and jokes.

Family Reunion at the Ramsay Home

All of Wendy's immediate family flocked to our home in Colorado for a fun-filled weekend. The weather was hot and dry, the food was plentiful, as was the laughter and reminiscing. Glad everyone could come and for the generosity shared!

Katie made a new friend... A horny toad from the garden. She named him Spike. Spike didn't mind Katie holding him - he just sat on her perfect-sized hand as she carried him around.

Regan made another trip to Hawaii for work. He was gone a week in Oahu, then flew to Kauai for his niece's wedding. Wendy REALLY wished she could have gone, especially to see a new island. This is a picture of Regan (on the far right) with his family in Kauai.

Cub Scout Day Camp

Yes, Limon Colorado is HOT in July! Wendy took Jarrett, Trey, and Katie for a little out of town fun. The boys had fun shooting BB guns, Archery, fishing, learning about pond life, tracking and animals. We didn't catch any fish, although Trey had a few nibbles.

Monticello Trip

This year we missed the 24th of July celebrations because Wendy attended activities for her 20th high school class reunion (Yes, it's true!). We made it in time for the fireworks and spent the rest of the week having fun. We went to the Monticello Pool, Blanding's new outdoor Pool and Rec center, hiking, and Regan tore up and refinished his parent's deck (his nephew Justin helped). It was a relaxing, enjoyable week.

Upon returning from Monticello, we went to Wendy's dad's annual company picnic at WaterWorld. It was a perfectly HOT July day! Sorry no pictures!

Baseball Season has Ended

This was Jarrett's 6th season playing for High Plains Little League. This season he was on the Twins. They tied their season 7 Wins and 7 Losses. Jarrett played center field, third base, and pitcher. The first game of the season he hit home run!

This was Trey's 3rd season in the same League. He played for the River Bandits. His team finished with 7 Wins, 2 Losses, and 1 Tie. Trey played all the positions, his favorites were first base, pitcher, and catcher. He had some great hits and a couple awesome double plays.

Brandon is a TEENAGER

Yep - it's true he's 13! He celebrated with 12 of his closest friends. They played football and ate lots of food.

Brandon Goes to Scout Camp

This was his second year at Camp A and again had a memorable time. He finished 3 merit badges, enjoyed the canoes, hiking, rock climbing/repelling, and many other fun adventures. As the Scout Leader, Regan went to camp 2.5 of the five days.

And Katie - well, she's just as cute as ever! She is busy keeping up with her brothers and follows along with whatever activity we're doing.

Another School Year Completed...

Brandon finished 7th grade.

Highlights of the year: Football, Basketball, and Elitches Amusement Park field trip.

He was on the honor roll each quarter with a 3.6, 3.8, 3.8, and 4.0! Way to go!

HAWAII

We finally made it back to our honeymoon destination... It's been almost 16 years since we first set foot on Oahu. Regan has been there a few times for work in the past year and this time Wendy was able to tag along... It was fantastic! Beautiful weather, gorgeous beaches, fabulous hotel, yummy food, and lots of time to relax in the warm sunshine! We went to Waikiki shopping, North Shore, the temple, Polynesian Culture Center, and visited with Regan's niece Angela.

Biggest news this month: Trey turned EIGHT! We celebrated as a family with our own party, then he had a party with some friends (had a great scavenger hunt), and Trey was baptized! We're so proud of his decision to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was a very special day for him.

And then there was the Pinewood Derby! This was Jarrett's third and final year and this was Trey's first year. Both had a great time racing their unique cars - Thanks Dad! Jarrett took first place and Trey was in fourth place! Congrat's racers!

SPRING BREAK 2011

10 days - 2,400 miles - 4 states

What a great vacation we had!

It all began on a beautiful Saturday morning, the first official day of spring break. We loaded up the van and began driving to Monticello, Utah. We stayed with Regan's parents for the weekend. We were excited to see the just-born calves (Katie rode this calm calf she named Flower).

On Monday morning we packed and loaded up the van, this time off to Saint George, Utah. On the way we stopped at Cove Fort, an interesting church history site.

In Saint George we stayed at the Marriott Towne Suites (the kids loved the hot tub and pool). We went to the Temple grounds and the Tabernacle, hiked in a red rock park, and ate at some yummy restaurants, one of which is where Regan's sister Delta works. It was fun to see her. Regan's parents and brother Jason & family also came to St. George, which is where his parents served their mission over 20 years ago.

Wednesday we packed, loaded, and drove to Las Vegas. We stayed with Regan's niece Celise & family. It was great to spend so much time with them, his sister Sheila, and with Sister-in-law Liz & family. We had a great time in downtown at the MGM Rainforest, M&M World, NY NY where Regan, Wendy, & Brandon rode the roller coaster, Caesar's Palace we saw the statues come to life and the amazing aquarium, the Bellagio garden and unfortunately the water show was cancelled due to the very slight breeze... we did however see it driving down the strip later. We saw the lights on the strip at dusk. The next day we went to Mirage to see the Dolphins and White Lion and Tigers. And what's Vegas without an awesome buffet?! We went to Fiesta with all the family in town - what a crew!

Saturday we packed and loaded again. Said goodbye for now to all the Vegas family and hit the road again. We drove first to Hoover Dam, kids were impressed, and drove over the new bridge/hwy that extends over the canyon. We continued on to Flagstaff, Arizona and checked into a very nice SpringHill Marriott. The pool was chilly - bummer.

Sunday we enjoyed the free breakfast - mmmm! and then packed and loaded the van and we were off to the Grand Canyon! Wendy kept telling the kids the Grand Canyon was a huge hole in the ground... What an understatement! They were very impressed. We hiked, stopped many times to take in the views, and ended our time there at the Watchtower and had ice-cream. Everyone was tired - it was a full day! We continued our drive to Monticello.

We stayed in Monticello just that night and then packed and loaded the final time to head home to Colorado. With all the driving, all the activities, all the late nights, everyone had a great time and built some great memories together!

Superbowl XLV Packers vs. Steelers...

We had a fun family party and rooted for Trey's favorite team - the Packers!

Jarrett finished his 4th grade basketball season. They finished 8 wins and 1 loss. Had they won their third tournament game, they would have played in the Championship game. It was a hard loss - but they played great! Regan was an awesome coach and Jarrett is already looking forward to next season with Regan coaching again. Brandon was the assistant coach. Happy New Year! We all look forward to another year of exiciting events, learning, and growth. Regan continues to work on the basement in his spare time. Brandon and Jarrett eagerly helped with the electrical wiring of their rooms:

And Wendy made a trip to New Orleans to visit her sister Mandi (and two adorable nieces).

December is such a great time of year! Brandon completed his 7th grade basketball season and Jarrett began his 4th grade basketball season. Both Jarrett and Trey had their school musical/plays, and all the boys wrapped up the school semester. Wendy's parents came for a visit, and of course it's Christmas-time, which brings fun music, goodies galore, decorations, lights, and presents. We are indeed grateful to remember more fully the birth, life, and mission of Jesus Christ.

With Wendy's parents, we visited Santa, made cookies, played games, went to the Flying W Ranch, the Denver Zoolights, the Spaghetti Factory, and shopping in Manitou Springs. We had great weather and really enjoyed the time together as a family.

The highlight this month (aside from Thanksgiving of course) is Katie's birthday! She is FOUR already! She celebrated her last day of being three by riding a horse at a friend's house. She loved it - and Barbara is a great lady for taking the time and showing and teaching Katie how to feed, brush, saddle, and ride Charisma. Katie grinned the entire time and was a little saddle sore after at least a half hour in the saddle. Her birthday was marked with lots of birthday wishes, cake, balloons, and presents.

Jarrett's 10th Birthday!

A decade old - can't believe it. He celebrated with friends, food, movie, gifts, and a donut tower!

Monticello Visit

We made a quick trip to Monticello to visit family for a family reunion. Regan's dad's side of the family gathered for food and reminiscing. While there, Wendy ran a 10K race in Canyonlands with some family members. It was a beautiful day and fantastic race. Wendy finished 13/76 runners, 1st in her age division (25-39 years), with a run time of 45:23, her best 10K time!

Halloween
We celebrated on Saturday by going to our community center and then to the church for "trunk-or-treat". The kids all got a load of candy! On Sunday night we had the kids dress back up for pictures and with all the lights out we watched a halloween movie while eating treats and candy. It was a fun night.

Labor Day - Wendy ran the American Discovery Trail Half Marathon for the third year in a row. This was her best time yet, 1 hour 44 minutes! She was 2/45 in her age division, 9/235 women, 61/467 overall.

Hike in Monument - Beautiful day for a hike with the family. As we were leaving, after being warned of a bear nearby, we saw the bear saunter over to the pond we had just passed and watched him get in for a swim. Glad we didn't cross paths!

FOOTBALL SEASON! Go Firebirds! Brandon #80!

It was an undefeated season for the 7th grade football team, 8-0. They outscored their opponents 178 to 28. Brandon played in each "A" team game. He was given the "Goal Setting" award: His goal, to have 3 interceptions during the season. Brandon's stats: 20 tackles, 1 strip with fumble recovery, and 1 interception (during the last game). He played corner back, back-up wide receiver, was on the kick off team, and extrapoint team. He had a great season - Way to go!

Back to school! Brandon is a 7th grader, Jarrett is in 4th grade, and Trey is in 2nd grade. Katie is doing "preschool" with Wendy 3 days a week - just some structured activities for fun.

Brandon is on the 7th grade football "A" team. This is his practice jersey. Practices are 5 days a week. Games start next month.

We went to WaterWorld for Wendy's dad's annual company picnic - boy was that fun! The kids had been looking forward to it for a year (since we left last year's picnic).

We weren't able to go camping in the mountains, but we had a great campout in our very own backyard (benefits included no driving time, no packing, no coolers, indoor bathrooms, Wendy could go running, and easier cleanup). We all slept in the tent, cooked dinner and s'mores on the grill and ate breakfast and lunch outside.

July 2010

The Fourth of July was celebrated with the typical fireworks - only this year there was competition with the lightning! We went to the AFA to watch the spectacular show. The crowds were thin - due to a stormy afternoon. The rain let up for a couple hours. We watched the fireworks, with the mountains being silhouetted in the background by the lightning. After the show, we made it to the buses (to transport us to the parking lot) just in time for the sky to open up and pour rain - we were drenched! What a memorable night!

We hiked Stanley Canyon, up to Stanley Reservoir the next day. It was a tough hike (four miles roundtrip). The boys did great, Katie walked most of it herself - she complained at one point saying, "I hate this hike." Wendy's dad went with us, everyone had a good, challenging time.
A Weekend in Denver: We rode the lightrail into downtown and walked up and down 16th Street Mall. We toured the dome of the Capital building, walked through the Civic Center, ate ice-cream, and walked to Coor's field to watch a Rockies game - what a fantastic game it was! The Rockies beat the Padres.

The next day we went to Heritage Square, rode rides, ate lunch - FUN!

Monticello: Our annual July visit to see Regan's parents and family. The weather was beautiful. We went fishing, hiking, to the farm to move cows and bail hay, and fix-it projects around Regan's parent's home. On Pioneer Day Wendy and Brandon ran the annual 5K race, Jarrett and Trey ran the kids 1 mile race, went to the parade, and that night watched the fireworks.

June 2010

Busy month! The boys finished school at the end of May. Then we had family visit, Brandon turned 12 and was ordained a Deacon, Brandon went to boy scout camp for a week (Regan went as a leader for 2 days), Regan and Wendy celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary, not to mention all the other fun summer time activities!

Regan's neices, Melissa and Celise with all their kids came to visit. We did the tourist attractions - Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, America the Beautiful Park, it was fun.

Wendy's parents came to visit for 5 days, partially in honor of Brandon's 12th Birthday and ordination. We played at the park and ventured to Cripple Creek to ride the train - beautiful! It was great having them here.

Regan in Hawaii

Regan went to Hawaii for 2 weeks in May for work (yes he hated to go there...). We missed him here, but he had a job to do (at least that's what he tells me). He had a really great time. Called every day and told us how nice the weather was, how great the food was, and about the "terrible" working conditions at the 5-star golf resort, sitting on the patio or poolside, checking e-mail and typing work reports... Whatever! Here are a couple picture of his trip.

Sports Page - 2010
Brandon played spring football with the same team he played on in the fall. It was a great season. He played a lot and the team won 4 of 5 games. He plans to tryout for 7th grade football when school starts.

Meanwhile... Baseball season was in full swing! Jarrett played on the Minor league for the Texas Rangers. He played center field and third base. He's a great player, this was his 5th season.

Trey played on the Midget league for the Defenders. It was machine pitch and he hit almost every time at bat - the ball travels 45 mph! He made many great plays, including catching a couple pop flies and made a double play! This was his 2nd season.

Pinewood Derby 2010

Jarrett Wins Third!

Yes, it's true. Jarrett has won third place his Pack's 2010 Pinewood Derby races. Jarrett would like to thank his dad for helping him carve his car to his specifications. Thanks is also due to his Mom, who purchased the paint colors requested and helped with the fine painting details. Thanks again to dad for the precise wheel alignment and graphite application. Jarrett would also like to thank his family for watching the races and cheering him on. Jarrett won first place 5/8 times and second 3/8 times. It was a close race, with first and second place winners only 1 and 2 points less then Jarrett's. He was awarded a 3rd place certificate along with an arrow-shaped plaque and a certificate for his car design titled "Best Use of Imagination." It was a great day at the races!

Trey's 7th Birthday

Trey celebrated his birthday with our traditional "Birthday Week." His "real" birthday was celebrated at the very minute he was born with song and a single cupcake to him. Later we all enjoyed cupcakes with Uncle Jason's family as they visited. After their visit, Brandon and Jarrett created a birthday present scavenger hunt for Trey to locate all his presents by following clues. He enjoyed that! During the week he opened presents as they arrived in the mail. He finished up his celebration with a birthday party. Friends from school came over to play games, eat birthday brownies and ice cream, and open yet more presents! We can't believe he's 7 already. Thanks for all the generous gifts!

Wendy ran The Platte River Half Marathon last weekend! Her time was 1:47, pretty good for a spring half! Enjoyed the sites from Littleton to Denver. Thanks to Louie (Wendy's dad) for following along the course and cheering her on and Regan and the children met Wendy at the finishline giving her the last inspirational cheers!

Regan and Wendy went on a 7-day Mexican Riviera Cruise. We went to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta. In Cabo we went on an underwater sea trek, in which we wore 75 pound helmets with an air hose pumping continuous air in to keep the water out as we walked 20 feet below the surface of the water. We saw many fish and even held a blow fish! In Mazatlan we went to a folkloric show and saw the famous Papantla Flyers, then went to a beach resort for lunch and relaxation. In Puerto Vallarta we took a bus ride/tour through the city to a classy beach resort, the Barcelo. There we enjoyed all you can eat and drink, the pool and hot tub, and the beach.

The ship was amazing - huge and elegant. There was a great staff, fabulous food (we ate way too much), and excellent entertainment (including nightly shows, comedians, and an ice show on the only ice arena on a cruise ship). Our stateroom overlooked the Promenade, sort-of an indoor mall where there were parades and music. On the ship we worked out in the fitness center, enjoyed the sauna, steam rooms, and hot tubs. Regan played basketball in two 3 on 3 tournaments. His team won second place both times and he got a silver medal for each! We went rock climbing and enjoyed the sun on the decks. It was just really fun!

At first we felt a little guilty for not sharing the adventure with the children - but the guilt quickly diminished as we saw other families struggling and knew we wouldn't have been as "free" to do all we wanted. So, sorry children... you'll have to go on your own someday!

Katie's Birthday

Can't believe she's three already! She wanted "Dora" cupcakes for her birthday cake. After Wendy spent a couple hours making them and after singing Happy Birthday and blowing out candles - Katie took the chocolate hair off Dora, licked all the frosting off the cupcake and then asked for another... A bowl of frosting would have been a lot easier! Happy Birthday princess!

The boys designed and carved their own pumpkins and Regan designed Katie's per her instructions, it was to be a "very nice, happy pumpkin face" and Grandpa helped carve it. We all went out trick or treating, it was a relatively warm October night and everyone came home with full bags!

GO TORNADOS!

Brandon finished his first season of tackle football - and it was no surprise he LOVED it. His team not only made it to the playoffs but to the championship game - for the first time in Tornados history - and they WON! It was a great season. He's already asking to play the spring season and will (of course) tryout for 7th grade football in the fall.

September 19th: Wendy, Brandon, and Jarrett hiked Pikes Peak! Brandon and Jarrett did great. They were convinced we would NEVER make it - that it was IMPOSSIBLE. But they did it and actually say they'll do it again someday! It was a beautiful day.

Wendy ran the American Discovery Trail half marathon on Labor Day 2009.

Her time was 1 hr 45 min (that's 8 min miles)!

She took first place in her age division - yeah!

After returning from Utah, we went camping. It rained some, but the weather was perfect afterward. We all agreed two nights would be better, it's alot of work getting there, setting up, eating, playing, fishing, and then cleaning it all up! Kids all had fun and look forward to the next camping trip.

Baseball season ended in June, here are pictures of our stars with their medals and trophies. It was Jarrett's 4th year and Trey's 1st, they both had amazing seasons!

Brandon earned his Arrow of Light award, the highest award in Cub Scouting and the only award to carry over to Boy Scouts. We're so proud of his hard work. He is now 11 and officially a Boy Scout, the crossover ceremony was June 23rd. He is very excited about Boy Scouts.

We hiked Castle Rock, CO. We have driven by it many times and finally decided we needed to experience the adventure next to the highway! The kids had fun exploring.

Then on Memorial Day, Wendy ran the Bolder Boulder. She ran the 10K race in 49 min 58 sec! Her overall place was 4,768 of 53,000; for women 1,003 of 26,182! Check out pics:

At a district scouting event: The children practiced their white water rafting skills. We'll have to wait a few years to go as a family!

While at this event the boys all took a BB Gun Shooting class. Also, Brandon was invited to race his pinewood derby car in the district races. There were 31 Webelos cars, his placed 8th!

Easter Eve...
Dyeing Easter eggs - a fun and messy adventure! This was Katie's first year. She quickly learned from her experienced brothers how to do this. Each of her eggs was dipped in every color at least once...

Easter Day...
Katie is wearing her Easter dress and her baby doll has a matching dress, both made by Wendy. Katie had fun hunting for eggs - as did her brothers who easily found more than she did!

Pinewood Derby

Brandon and Jarrett raced against each other this year. This was Brandon's third and final year and Jarrett's first year. Neither were the top three winners, but had fun just the same. Check out the cool cars they designed - Regan did a lot of helping to achieve the final products! They did a fantastic job and they were very happy with their cars.

Beautiful Colorado Weather!

It was January 17th and we went hiking at a nearby park. The boys had a great time exploring. Katie collected sticks and called out to them, "Boys!" as we walked along the trail.

Merry Christmas

We had a great Christmas Day. Some might think we are mean parents, our kids can't leave their rooms until 7am, are not allowed downstairs (where the tree and gifts are), we eat breakfast before opening gifts, and when it's time to open gifts, we take turns (yes, the kids would love to tear through their gifts as quickly as possible, but we want to see what they receive). This actually works each year and we have an enjoyable morning!

Santa brought a great surprise for us - a Wii. The boys (including Regan) couldn't wait to get it set up. They spent the rest of the day creating their Mii's and playing games. First day favorites: Regan - Tennis, Wendy and Trey - Charge (cow riding/racing), Brandon - Boxing, Jarrett - Baseball. When Madden Football and NBA Basketball make their debut, favorites are sure to change!

Katie loved opening her gifts. There's nothing like watching a little one tear little pieces of wrapping paper off one by one until the contents are revealed. She was elated with her gifts!

Visiting Santa

We visited Santa recently at the Rec center. Katie was afraid of the funny looking old man (the one with the long white beard, not her dad). The boys asked for all kinds of hi-tech toys and Santa just nodded and said OK. Regan says that Santa is poor this year and needs a Government bail-out.
